I have not been able to identify this boat. Visually it has characteristics of both Typ VII (foredeck) and IX boats (wide aft deck), and an unusual conning tower that seems like an early Typ IX with the addition of the raised and protected deck gun. It seems to lean perhaps towards an early oddball Typ IX…

Santa Barbara Channel Swimming With Dolphins

This is a clip of my Santa Barbara channel crossing on 07/07/07.
The dolphin encounter happened at about 8:45 AM. There was a pod of about 200 or so Risso’s dolphins that surrounded the boat, my kayaker David, and myself…the nut in the water.
